“Anna has applied her talents in the music field by developing a means of capturing our daughter’s attention while pursuing the developmental goals set down for her by her teachers, in consultation with her pediatrician and other medical support staff. Our daughter is showing great animation and interest in music and other forms of non-verbal communication and we credit a great deal of this to Anna and her most creative methods of encouraging and teaching developmentally challenged children such as our daughter, using music as an alternate medium. Our daughter has a very specific and narrow range of interests, and Anna has found an approach which is producing good results.”

“I have worked as a physiotherapist for 37 years and can sincerely state that the positive response of children to Anna's way of creating music for them has been outstanding. I have watched non-communicative children become vocal and delighted as Anna with her characteristic intuition would adapt songs to incorporate a child's sounds. The rhythm and environment that Anna creates through music allows the children I work with to accomplish more physically, both in terms of improved movement and their ability to relax or be stimulated depending on their needs. Lastly, the professional way in which Anna provided written goals and strategies in the area of music relative to enhancing movement was most helpful to me and other staff at the centre. A genuine thank you, Anna, for introducing me to a professional field of therapy that prior to working with you, I was completely unaware of.”

"Our daughter Lauren has autism, and while she has limited language, she communicates with others through music. To say that Lauren loves music is an understatement. Not only does Lauren love music, it is also an area where she has demonstrated many talents. By having Anna come over to our house to work one on one with Lauren through music, we have seen Lauren's oral and receptive language skills improve dramatically. Lauren uses words related to music to communicate observations and preferences. She has also developed social skills through music therapy such as turn-taking, sharing and waiting- all skills that have been very difficult for Lauren to develop in the past. Lauren gets so excited when she knows that Anna will be coming for her music session. Music therapy has really added to Lauren's quality of life. As Lauren's parents, we are so grateful for this wonderful opportunity for Lauren to learn and have fun through music.

"What a delight it is to have Stephanie coming each week. The residents so enjoy her music and her ability to get the group responding in some way. There is no doubt whatsoever how much they are enjoying their time with her. The changes we are seeing after three months are so moving as we see those most closed to the outside world responding to the music by saying a few words, tapping their feet, smiling, and/or moving their arms. Some family members join their loved one and they, like myself, are eager to be there, participating too. Staff often watch and one told me she is moved to tears everytime she comes. One family member had a gentle dear lady up and dancing with her. I can tell you it really choked me up to see the joy on the latter's face. One of the male residents now comes with his mouth organ; a man who didn't wish to join and used to sit off by himself. It amazes me how people respond to music who cannot respond otherwise. I guess that is what music therapy is all about!"

"Our son Richard thoroughly enjoys his music sessions and loves working with Kate.  From strumming the guitar to bouncing and stretching, he has so much fun he doesn’t realize how hard he’s working – and gaining strength and coordination! Richard also loves making Kate work - she’s wonderful at improvising new songs each week when he asks for ‘something else’!"
